Travelling with regional and long-distance trains to Stockholm
For train journeys within Sweden and to/from Oslo and Copenhagen, get your ticket from the state railway company SJ. Please note that SJ tickets must be bought in advance. See also Deutsche Bahn for international journeys to Stockholm.
Going from the airport to central Stockholm
Arlanda Airport is situated c. 40 km north of Stockholm, and if you don’t take a taxi, you kan use public transport.
The direct trains Arlanda Express take you from Arlanda airport (stations “Norra” and “Södra”) to Stockholm Central Station in 20 minutes; it is however rather expensive.
The airport buses Flygbussarna are cheaper. They go approx. every 10 minutes from all terminals to central Stockholm (station “Cityterminalen”), the journey takes 45 minutes.
There are also local SL trains from Arlanda (station “Central”) to Stockholm Central Station, they go every 30 minutes and the journey takes 38 minutes. At the airport, you buy the ticket at the ticket office at Sky City, terminal 3. Otherwise, see the SL website.
Local transport in the Stockholm area
The conference venue (ABF-huset) is situated circa 1.5 km from Stockholm Central Station and the bus central Cityterminalen.
Local transport in the Stockholm region is organised by a regional transport authority under the trademark SL. In central Stockholm, most journeys go with metro trains (“tunnelbana”, look for the white and blue “T” sign at the street level) or buses that are blue or red. In the Stockholm region, there are also local trains and trams in the SL system. In general, tickets must be bought in advance. For a shorter stay, 24 or 72 hour tickets can be the easiest solution.
